Born February 18, 1991. San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Lillian is a composer, vocalist, and multi-instrumentalist based in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received her first commission in 2014 from the International Low Brass Trio and later became known for Miracles of the Human Condition for brass quintet, commissioned by a consortium of seven quintets in 2022 and premiered in Canada. The work has since been performed by ensembles including the award-winning Axiom Brass, Calliope Brass, and Seraph Brass, and was recorded by Calliope Brass on their album Second Nature.

Her music has been performed internationally in Australia, Finland, Germany, and Canada, as well as across the United States. She is currently working on a commission with the New World Symphony for horn, tuba, and piano and is developing her first LP as a singer-songwriter for release in 2026.

Writing primarily in classical and contemporary idioms, Yee’s creative practice also spans jazz, Brazilian, and world music traditions. As a vocalist, she performs regularly throughout the Bay Area with ensembles including Garotas da Lua, a bossa nova group featuring Sandy Cressman, Catia Lund, Ricardo Peixoto, and Brian Rice, as well as The Brazilian Project, a long-running Brazilian music ensemble founded by Rick Pollack and known for its rotating instrumentation and collaborators.

In addition to her work as a composer and performer, Yee is deeply invested in interdisciplinary creation and musical community-building. She is a cofounder of the Women Composers Collective and is currently training as a Certified Music Practitioner (CMP), providing therapeutic harp and vocal music in clinical and end-of-life settings.
