I’m grateful to share this review of Chorus of the Pleiades from M.L. Rantala, Classical Music Critic for the Hyde Park Herald (@hydeparkherald ), following the work’s world premiere on July 14, 2026 in Chicago.

Inspired by a musical sisterhood I know and have worked with, as well as the symbolism of the Pleiades constellation, this piece explores the unique voices of horn, tuba, and piano through themes of sisterhood, dialogue, and connection.

Thoughts of a composer five minutes before the show:

It’s strange having the world premiere of your piece being performed across the country and not being able to be there. Conceptually, it feels a little like your baby is being born and you can’t be in the room when it happens. Is this what it feels like for a partner who can’t be present for the birth of their child?

After more than a year of monthly performances at Adega Azul (@adegaazulwine ), my residency is coming to a close on Saturday, July 11, from 7:00–9:00 PM.

It has been such a privilege to share music in this beautiful, intimate space alongside so many extraordinary musicians over the past year. For this final residency performance, I’m especially honored to be joined by the wonderful Carlos Oliveira (@coliveira_guitar_lessons ) as we perform an evening of bossa nova and música popular brasileira—music I love deeply and have the joy of specializing in. It’s the perfect setting for a relaxing evening with great wine, great company, and beautiful music.

While this marks the end of my monthly residency, it isn’t goodbye. I look forward to returning to Adega Azul for future performances, and I’d love to celebrate this milestone with all of you.

Time is ticking! The deadline for the commission I’ve been working on is Saturday, June 20 which is NEXT WEEK. The parameters for this project has been 15-18 minutes worth of music split into five movements. I’m so excited to announce more about it as the days go by and, guys, let me tell ya… it’s been WILD writing this. Composing this piece, I’ve had to confront some major traumas, really dig into the themes of the work and, as per Lillian style, deeply integrate and immerse myself with the emotional content of this vision.

I’m excited to say that about 11 minutes has been completed and the last three movements are on their way.

Can I finish three movements with the duration of 7 minutes or less in a week? Stay tune and find out!

For now, I’m celebrating finishing these two major movements and I’m SO pumped to tell you more about it. The only thing I can say for now is that the instrumentation is for french horn, tuba and piano and will be played by these talented and creative sisters: Robyn Black on tuba and Abby Black on french horn! @robyntonation @abby.m.black

Also a gig funded by @sonomavalleyjazzsociety I’ll be doing up at @parksidewinebar with Ricardo Peixoto on 7-string guitar where I’ll be playing glockenspiel, melodica and harp in addition to singing. Don’t miss that. It’s a beautiful drive from the Bay Area too. That’s gonna be May 23 Saturday. We’re working on some really great material that I’m pretty juiced to share with everybody.

Hello all, I’m officially in composition marathon mode and will be shutting myself in until the end of April. I am tasked to write about 11-15 minutes of music in about two weeks. This type of work usually takes three months for me. I am grateful to be working on a commission and will be announcing more information about it soon.

If you see me out and about, it’s because I really need the break. And if you see me, please, for the love of humanity, offer to give me a hug. I will likely be going insane and will have poor communication skills.

I have some April shows that I’ll be promoting soon and if you’d like to show some love and say hi, come meet me there! I’m excited to share my art and music with you all.

Hello everyone ♡(´∀｀)

It’s been a while since I’ve made a social post and not an ad for an event or announcement of some musical sort.

I’ve taken a little break from social media but I’ve missed it. I’ve missed making this space more personal and connecting with you guys. We are currently in mid-March. For the next couple of weeks, I have a few gigs, am writing arrangements for @garotasdalua.musica , working on a commission that will have an announcement soon, and will be sending out a newsletter pretty soon for those who don’t like social media. I’ve been handling a few tough things in my personal life and my health and it’s made me really grateful for the time I do have that’s quiet. Sleep and diet has been sort of rough recently, and if you see me in person anywhere, feel free to offer a hug. It’s been a rough year and is only getting rougher.

I have a lot of cool things coming up and I know that my friends do too. I’m excited to support them and I’m always so grateful when they support me. That said, my mental health has been pretty rough recently. I might’ve mentioned that I had a concussion in October of last year and, to be honest, I think it’s getting worse. I’ve reached out to my medical team to try and get a neurologist. Fingers crossed.

I’ve been enjoying making music with Steve Raphael at @adegaazulwine for the past 2 months, my Brazilian vocal harmony group, Ricardo Peixoto, Rick Pollack, and my friends at @the_alley_of_oakland — I’m grateful for the time we spent together and I’m trying to be gentle and kind with myself despite everything that’s going on in not just my life but also the world. I’ve been so proud of our Asian American Bay Area Olympic winners, enjoying my time teaching at @magnoliamusicschool and taking care of my two fur babies, Dmitri and Anatolia. I also realized that I think I am audhd. If you know anything about audhd, I’d love to know your thoughts on what that means in the comments.

Anyways, blah blah blah. Mercury retrograde will be done soon and I really need better sleep and less unsolicited advice by others. Blah. Hope you all have a peaceful day wherever you are. ♥️✌️💐😵‍💫🎵

Thank you to everyone who was so kind to celebrate me on my birthday. I didn’t have any plans for my birthday this year and was told to come out and we ended up celebrating for over a day. I got sang happy birthday to a whopping three times (twice at @honor_emeryville and once at @breakroomberkeley ), had some really good yakitori and listened to talented friends @poor_mountaineer and @remeebrasshley play at @bar_tanuki_ where one of my favorite people @swesleys helped me make a fire, went over to the Break Room for pool and for the jam/singing, and spent my evening with some of the loveliest people I’ve ever met.

Thank you to the ones who made it a point to come out to spend your time with me. I’m beyond touched.

Here’s to being officially 35! Welcoming in the new year with a full heart and ritual of building/nurturing a fire together with special people I admire.

I’ll be bringing my glockenspiel and melodica so be prepared for a twinkly evening. It will be an enchanting experience and will start at 5:30pm. Free.

I hear it’s going to be busy so be sure to get there early to snag a seat.
